Minhas reflexões sobre as manifestações no Brasil | My reflections on the manifestations in Brasil

É estranho estar tão longe, sem saber direito o que está acontecendo. Mais estranho ainda é quando a história do nosso país muda e você não tem nem ideia.

Tive que fazer uma rápida pesquisa pra tentar entender e acho que finalmente entendi o porquê das manifestações… O Brasil é a minha nação amada e meu coração e minhas orações tem estado no Brasil nos últimos dias.
It's so weird to be far away, without knowing exactly what's happening. Even stranger is when the story of our country changes and we have no idea how.
I had to do a quick research to try to understand and I think I finally understood why the manifestations... Brazil is my beloved nation and my heart and my prayers have been in Brazil in the last few days.

Há cerca de um ano atrás, eu me 'comprometi' a orar todos os dias pela conversão da presidente Dilma. Ás vezes eu orava pelo governo dela também, mas confesso que ao ver as notícias e tudo mais, eu acabei desanimando e de uns tempos pra cá, tenho orado mais 'pra ver o que Deus faz'.
Around a year ago, I pledged to pray everyday to the conversion of the president Dilma. Sometimes I'd pray for her government, but I admit that every time I see the news I get discouraged and lately, I've been praying most 'to see what God does".

Cada vez que eu via uma notícia desanimadora nova (kit gay, descoberta disso… daquilo, bláblá…) eu me lembrava da época do mensalão e de como as coisas precisavam ser expostas pra haver uma solução. E aí entra um dos meus versículos preferidos:

Não participem das coisas sem valor que os outros fazem, coisas que pertencem à escuridão. Pelo contrário, tragam todas essas coisas para a luz. (Efésios 5:11)

(Que eu gosto em inglês: "Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them")
Every time I saw something discouraging on the news (gay kit, found this out, found that out... blabla...) I'd remember the times of the 'mensalão' (it was a time when someone in the government denounced people who were stealing and stuff....) and how things needed to be exposed in order to find a solution. So, here comes one of my favorite verses:
Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them" {Ephesians 5:11}

Enfim. Trazer as coisas para a luz.

Acho que isso define bem o que está acontecendo no Brasil: os absurdos cometidos pelo governo não estão mais debaixo dos panos, nem a indignação do povo brasileiro.
That's it. Bring it to the light.
I think this defines what's been happening in Brasil: the absurds that the government did and does is not hidden anymore, neither the indignation of the Brazilian people.

E, quando qualquer coisa é trazida para a luz, então a sua verdadeira natureza é revelada. Porque o que é claramente revelado se torna luz. E é por isso que se diz: “Você que está dormindo, acorde! Levante-se da morte, e Cristo o iluminará." {Efésios 5:13-14}

But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, 14 for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, “Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” {Ephesians 5:13-14}

Como eu já falei antes, tenho orado incessantemente pelo meu Brasil e vou continuar a orar, vou ser fiel na pequena tarefa que Deus me confiou e sei que ele é fiel pra responder as orações que eu faço pedindo justiça.
As I already said, I have been praying without ceasing for my Brazil and I will keep on praying, I will be faithful on the little task God has trusted my with and I know that he is faithful to answer the prayers I ask for justice.

As pessoas tem sido convocadas a ir pra rua, a colocar panos brancos na janela... Eu, mesmo longe, também quero fazer uma convocação:

VAMOS ORAR!

Vamos ganhar essa conquista na base da oração, vamos convidar o Rei dos Reis e Senhor dos Senhores a se envolver e trazer transformação no nosso país! 

Vamos orar pelas autoridades, pois mesmo que sejam corruptas, elas foram instituídas por Deus. (Romanos 13:1) Vamos orar pra que haja transformação no modo deles pensarem.

Vamos orar pedindo perdão pelos pecados da nossa nação, pois  "se o meu povo, que se chama pelo meu nome, se humilhar, e orar, e buscar a minha face, e se desviar dos seus maus caminhos, então eu ouvirei do céu, e perdoarei os seus pecados, e sararei a sua terra." (2 Crônicas 7:14)

People have been summoned to go to the streets, to put white cloths on the window... I, even from far away, also want to summon people to do something:

LET'S PRAY!

Let's conquer this based on prayer, let's invite the King of Kings and Lord of Lords to be part of it and bring transformation to our country!

Let's pray for the authorities, because even though corrupt, they were instituted by God. (Romans 13:1) Let's pray for transformation on the way they thing.

Let's pray asking for forgiveness for the sins of our nation, because 'if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.' (2 Chronicles 7:14)

Acho que quando se fala de missões, o Japão é um dos últimos países a serem lembrados. Pudera, quem é que manda missionário para um dos países mais ricos e tecnológicos do mundo? A verdade é que apesar de todas essas 'aparências', o Japão é um dos lugares que tem a maior necessidade do evangelho.
When we talk about missions, Japan is one of the last countries to be mentioned. After all, who sends missionaries to one of the most rich and technological countries in the world? The truth is that despite all of this things, Japan is one of the places who needs the preaching of the gospel the most.

Antes de vir pra cá, eu já sabia de algumas coisas, mas chegando aqui, percebi que "o buraco é mais embaixo" e que há muito mais necessidades. Por isso, estou escrevendo esse post, na esperança de que vocês possam se ajuntar a mim e ao Jesse e fazer a diferença nesse país através das suas orações! :)
Before coming here, I knew some things, but arriving here, I noticed that the situation is worst than it seems and that there are lots of needs. Because of this, I am writing this post, in the hope that you can join me and Jesse in making the difference in this country through prayer! :)

Igreja | Church

A igreja no Japão é quase inexistente, cerca de 1% é cristão e mesmo os cristãos não são muito ousados para pregar o evangelho, devido a cultura de 'não ofender' ao próximo. Nas igrejas em que trabalhamos, podemos dizer que uns 90% dos membros são estrangeiros.
The church is Japan is almost absent, around 1% of the population is a Christian and even they aren't very bold in preaching the gospel, because of the culture of 'not offending' the others. At the churches that we work at, we can say that around 90% of the members are foreigners.

*Fazer tudo para agradar os outros | Doing everything to please others

Os japoneses fazem de tudo para 'se encaixar' e ser igual uns aos outros. O jeito que eles se vestem, o jeito que eles falam, o jeito que eles agem é sempre em função de agradar/não-ofender o próximo. Por causa disso, muitas vezes as igrejas acabam caindo em uma certa religiosidade e também, muitas pessoas não se tornam cristãos por que não querem ser a 'minoria'.
The Japanese do everything to fit and to be like the others. The way they dress, the way they speak, the way they act is always in function of pleasing/not offending the others. Because of that, many times the churches fall in certain religiosity and also, many people don't give Christianity a chance because they don't want to be the minority.

Uma cultura que valoriza demais o trabalho | A culture that puts too much value on work

O trabalho vem em primeiro lugar aqui no Japão. Domingo não é dia de descanso. As pessoas trabalham muito, algumas delas tem até mais de um emprego e voltam pra casa tarde da noite. Além disso, como muitas vezes o trabalho é longe de casa, a jornada de trabalho acaba aumentando 2-3 horas por causa do transporte.
To work comes first here in Japan. Sunday is not a rest day. People work too much, some of them have more than one job and they come home late at night. Also, since many times the job is far away from home, the time spent with work can increase 2-3 hours because of the transport.

Casamento | Marriage

Bom, essa me deixou muito de cara mesmo! Algumas pessoas nos contaram que muitos casais (casados!) japoneses não dormem na mesma cama e algumas vezes, sequer dormem no mesmo quarto. A situação é agravada quando o casal tem filhos. Além do trabalho tirar a prioridade da família (de Deus então nem se fala), o casal não fica junto nem pra dormir! Além disso, aqui no Japão as pessoas não demonstram carinho através de toque físico, muitas crianças nem sabem o que é ganhar abraços dos pais. Vamos orar pra que os laços do casamento sejam fortalecidos no Japão, que a taxa de divórcio caia e que é claro, os casais sejam mais felizes!
Well, this one made me mad! Some people told us that many (married!) Japanese couples don't sleep on the same bed and sometimes, not even in the same room. The situation gets worst when the couple have kids. Apart from the work taking the priority from the family (not to mention God), the couple doesn't stay together not even to sleep! Also, here in Japan people don't show affection through touch, many kids don't even know what it is to get a hug from their parents. Let's pray that the marriage ties will get stronger in Japan, that the divorce rate decreases and of course, that the couples become happier!

Ataque Espiritual | Spiritual Attack

Essa me pegou de surpresa! Como eu já falei, o cristianismo é minúsculo, então a atmosfera espiritual é tensa por aqui. Eu e o Jesse passamos algum tempo em Tókio e agora moramos em outra prefeitura, Ibaraki. Uma amiga minha que mora no Japão há muitos anos me contou que aqui em Ibaraki é uma potestade diferente, mais forte do que Tókio. E bom, nós percebemos e ainda sentimos isso.. o meu corpo anda super cansado fisicamente e até mesmo mentalmente. O Jesse tem estado doente (on and off) desde que chegamos no Japão. Mas nós sabemos que maior é o que está em nós do que o que está no Japão… bem maior! Orem por proteção contra todos os ataques do inimigo nas nossas vidas e para que a atmosfera espiritual do Japão seja revertida para uma atmosfera cheia do amor de Deus.
This one got me by surprise! As I said before, Christianity is tiny, so the spiritual atmosphere here is heavy. Me and Jesse spent some time in Tokyo and now we live in another prefecture, Ibaraki. A friend of mine who lives in Japan for many years told me that here in Ibaraki it's a different feeling, harder than Tokyo. And we noticed and feel that... my body feels very tired physically and even mentally. Jesse has been sick (on and off) since we arrived here in Japan. But we know that greater is He who is in us than the one who is in Japan, much greater! Pray for the protection against all of the enemy's attacks in our lives and that the spiritual atmosphere in Japan be changed into an atmosphere full of God's love.

Álcool e Cigarro | Alcohol and Smoking

Japonês bebe e fuma demais! Demais mesmo! E sabemos que a motivação por trás desses vícios é pra 'aliviar a dor'.
Japanese people drink and smokes a lot! A lot!! And we know that the motivation behind those addictions is to 'numb the pain'.

Missionários | Missionaries

Desesperadamente eu lhe peço, orem para que Deus mande mais missionários para o Japão. O trabalho é enorme, há muita semente pra ser plantada, quanto mais regada e colhida. Os pastores e líderes da igreja acabam se sobrecarregando demais por que não há trabalhadores o suficiente. Clame a Deus por mais trabalhadores! 

O Japão também é um lugar muito caro para se viver, por isso orem para que Deus cuide de todas as necessidades financeiras desses missionários, inclusive eu e o Jesse. Como eu já falei, orem contra todo o ataque espiritual, pq Satanás está o tempo todo sussurrando mentiras e tentando nos fazer desistir.
Desperately I ask, pray that the Lord will send more missionaries to Japan. The work is huge, there's lots of seed to be sowed, even more watered and heaped. The pastors and leaders of the church overwork themselves because there aren't enough workers. Cry out to God for more workers!
Japan is also a very expensive place to live, so pray that the Lord will take care of all of their financial needs, including me and Jesse. As I said before, pray against any spiritual attack, because Satan is all the time whispering lies and trying to make us give up.

*Jogos e Entretenimento em Geral | Games and Entertainment

Os japoneses jogam muitos joguinhos. Eu estava caindo nessa e percebi que o meu relacionamento com Jesus e com o Jesse estavam sendo afetados. As pessoas não interagem, estão o tempo todo jogando. Percebi também que há uma grande oferta de entretenimento, como os pachinkos, boliches, lugares de 'joguinhos' e coisa e tal, que servem como 'anestésicos', onde é muito fácil esquecer a 'vida real'.
The Japanese people play a lot. I was falling into that and I realized that my relationship with Jesus and Jesse were being affected. The people don't interact, they are all the time playing. I noticed that there's a huge amount of entertainment places, such as pachinkos, bowling places, gaming centers and things like that, that serve as anesthesia, where is too easy to forget the real life.

Suicídio | Suicide

As taxas de suicídio no Japão estão entre as mais elevadas do mundo. Perda de emprego é um motivo comum do suicídio.

The suicide rates in Japan are among the highest in the world. Losing your job is a common reason for suicide.

*Pornografia | Pornography

Assim como em todos os outros lugares, a pornografia também é uma questão de injustiça e motivo de oração aqui no Japão. No entanto, o que me chocou a respeito disso foi saber que existem também mangás ('gibi' japonês) pornográficos.

Just as in other places, pornography is also a matter of injustice and prayer need here in Japan. What shocked me about this is knowing that they even have pornographic manga (comics).

*Testemunhas de Jeová | Jehovah's Witnesses

Enquanto a igreja de Jesus Cristo cresce muito vagarosamente, os Testemunhas de Jeová estão por todas as partes no Japão. Além de levar os japoneses a uma falsa doutrina que não leva a salvação, alguns deles acabam saindo "machucados" pela religião e fecham os seus corações ainda mais.

While the church of Jesus Christ grows slowly, the Jehovah's Witnesses are everywhere in Japan. They give the Japanese people a false doctrine that doesn't lead to salvation and sometimes hurt them by the religion and make their hearts even closer.

*Pachinko

Pachinko são grandes lugares onde as pessoas vão para jogar e apostar dinheiro. Eles estão em todas as partes e são enormes! Vamos orar para que os pachinkos se tornem lugares de adoração ao único Deus verdadeiro.
Pachinko are big places where people go to play and bet money. It is everywhere and it is huge. Let's pray that the pachinkos will become a place of worship to the only true God.

*Sexo no ensino médio | Sex in High School

Como o tópico já diz, os alunos de ensino médio fazem sexo uns com os outros, só por fazer, sem compromissos. Vamos orar pra que essa situação possa se reverter e que os jovens entendam que o sexo é uma coisa sagrada, reservada para o casamento.

As the topic says, high school students have sex with each other, just for making it, without commitment. Let's pray that this situation will change and that the youth will understand that sex is a holy thing, reserved for marriage.

Bom, esses são somente alguns dos motivos de oração que o Japão precisa. Vou tentar escrever mais sobre como orar pelo Japão!
These are only a few reasons of why Japan needs prayers. I will try to write more about how to pray for Japan!

Lista de coisas que são de ponta cabeça no Japão | List of things that are upside down in Japan

Eu adoro listas, né!
I love lists!

- Eles dirigem do lado esquerdo, com o volante do lado direito;
- They drive on the left side, with the driving wheel on the right side;
- As estações do ano são o oposto do Brasil;
- The seasons are the opposite of Brazil;
- Eles escrevem com desenhos e lêem de cima pra baixo, da direita pra esquerda;
- They write with drawings and they read from top to bottom, from right to left;
- Eles dormem no chão;
- They sleep on the floor;
- Eles fazem barulho pra comer ;
- They make noises while they eat;
- Eles comem o resto do jantar no café da manhã;
- They eat the rest of dinner for breakfast;
- A estrutura das frases tem uma ordem completamente diferente, sendo que o verbo vai sempre no final;
- The structure of the phrases is completely different, the verb is always in the end;
- Eles comem com palitinhos;
- They eat with chopsticks;
- É um dos países mais modernos do mundo, mas não tem lava louças, forno, secadora de roupas, ar quente central nas casas;
- It's one of the most modern countries in the world, but they don't have dishwashers, oven, dryer, central heating in the houses;
- Eles separam o lixo pra reciclagem, plástico, vidro, papel... Tudo em sacolas diferentes, mas também produzem muito lixo com as embalagens;
- They divide the trash to recycle, plastic, glass, paper... everything in different bags, but they also produce lots of trash with their packages.
- O trem é pago de acordo com a distância percorrida;
- The train is paid according to the distance you've traveled;
- Eles fazem muito barulho pra comer, serio, é nojento;
- They make lots of noises to eat, seriously, it's disgusting;
- Eles são super enxeridos, nem disfarçam... Se você ta fazendo alguma coisa no computador, eles vão meter a cara na frente pra olhar o que você ta fazendo... {Bom, pelo menos alguns dos que a gente conheceu..)
- They are very curious, don't even try to hide... If you are doing something on the computer, they will put the face in front of the screen to see what you are doing.... (well, at least some people we've met...)
- Os restaurantes de ramen, quanto mais velho, melhor, porque assim eles mostram que tem mais experiência fazendo aquilo que eles fazem (mesmo enferrujado, caindo aos pedaços, chão quebrado...)
- The ramen restaurants, the oldest, the better, because then they show that they have experience in what they are doing (even if it's rusty, falling apart, broken floor...)
- Eles não falam 'não' diretamente... Falam "it's ok", ou tudo bem, mas na verdade eles querem dizer não e a gente tem que ficar perguntando;
- They don't say 'no' directly... they say "it's ok" but in fact they mean no and we have to keep asking...
- Como o alfabeto deles não tem "L", entre outras letras, ao invés de falar 'aleluia', eles falam 'hareruya', que é a palavra mais engraçada de todas;
- Their alphabet doesn't have an "L", so instead of saying Halleluia, they say "Hareruya", which is the funniest word of all;
- Eles começam a contar o aniversário antes de nascer, então quando você nasce, você já tem um ano;
- They start counting birthdays before you are born, so when you are born, you are already one.
- Eles gostam de ver reações das pessoas e também reagem com muito exagero;
- They like to see people's reactions and also react with lots of exaggeration;
- Há uma cultura de dar presentes, que eu adoro né;
- There's a culture of giving gifts, which I love!
- A moda japonesa é interessante, hehe, muitas estampas, misturadas; cores; tecidos bem sintéticos; roupas extremamente largas, principalmente na parte de cima; meninas jovens com saias muito curtas, muito mesmo; muuuuuita sobreposição;
- The Japanese fashion is interesting... lots of patterns, mixtures, colors, synthetic fabrics; extremely wide clothes, especially on the top; young girls with really short skirts, reaally short; lots of overlapping; 
- Aqui no Japão, estamos no ano 25, pois os anos são contados de acordo com a era do imperador.
- Here in Japan, we are in the year 25, because the years are counted according to the emperor.

Pensamentos: A Mídia e a Cultura / O pecado de dentro e de fora / Alerta | Thoughts: Media and Culture / The sin inside and out | Awareness

Alguns dias atrás, alguns pensamentos invadiram a minha cabeça e eu queria compartilhar com vocês.
Some days ago, some thoughts invaded my head and I wanted to share it with you.

1 - A mídia e a cultura | The media and the culture:

Muitas vezes as pessoas pensam que a mídia (Tv, rádio, internet…) refletem a cultura de um país. No entanto, a verdade é que a mídia tem moldado a nossa cultura. Não podemos ser ingênuos ao pensar que as coisas estão na TV por acaso, pois o inimigo tem usado a mídia para infiltrar coisas na nossa cabeça. Não sei o que tem passado na TV do Brasil, mas imagino que vai de mal a pior.
Many times, people think that the media (tv, radio, internet...) reflect the culture of a country. Therefore, the truth is that media has molded our culture. We can't be naive and think that the things are on TV randomly, because the enemy has been using the media to put things in our minds. I don't know what's going on the TV in Brazil, but I imagine that it's going from bad to worst.

Eu acredito que a cultura do Reino precisa penetrar na mídia. Precisamos de jornalistas, escritores, músicos, blogueiros, fotógrafos cristãos, comprometidos com Cristo, que irão moldar a nossa cultura. Mesmo que a gente comece atingindo apenas o povo cristão, já é um grande começo pois precisamos transformar a nossa mente de acordo com a Palavra de Deus.
I believe that the Kingdom Culture needs to get inside media. We need Christian journalists, writers, musicians, bloggers, photographers, committed with Christ, that will shape our culture. Even if we start by reaching only Christians, it is already a huge start, because we need to transform our minds according to the Word of God.

Romanos 12:2 - Não vivam como vivem as pessoas deste mundo, mas deixem que Deus os transforme por meio de uma completa mudança da mente de vocês. Assim vocês conhecerão a vontade de Deus, isto é, aquilo que é bom, perfeito e agradável a ele.

Romans 12:2 - Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Vamos nos posicionar como cristãos e mostrar a todos a diferença que faz pertencer a Jesus!

"Por amor de Ti oh Brasil, não me calarei nem me aquietarei!"
Let's position ourselves as Christians and show everyone the difference we had by belonging to Jesus! 
"For my love for you oh Brazil, I won't shut myself neither quiet myself"

2 - Pecados interiores e pecados exteriores | Inside sins and outside sins

Muitas pessoas vivem focando nas leis do Antigo Testamento. Não é por nada não, mas um dos pastores que ouvimos pregar recentemente falou que deveríamos viver de acordo com o "código de santidade", descrito em Levíticos 17-19. Tudo bem, concordo com o que ele falou e tal, só que ele se esqueceu de mencionar que santidade também está no interior. Jesus mesmo disse "Pois é do interior, do coração dos homens, que procedem os maus pensamentos, as prostituições, os furtos, os homicídios, os adultérios, a cobiça, as maldades, o dolo, a libertinagem, a inveja, a blasfêmia, a soberba, a insensatez; todas estas más coisas procedem de dentro e contaminam o homem." Marcos 7:21-23
Many people focus all the time on the law of the Old Testament. We heard a pastor lately and he said that we should live according to the 'holiness law' described in Leviticus 17-19. Ok, I agree with what he said, but he forgot to mention that holiness is also in the inside. Jesus himself said "For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft,murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride,foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.” Mark 7:21-23

Acho que nós cristãos precisamos tomar cuidado pra não viver debaixo da lei de Levíticos, preocupados com o que as outras pessoas vêem e sim, lembrar que Deus vê o nosso interior, ele sabe a motivação do nosso coração em fazer as coisas. Precisamos ser santos de dentro pra fora ;)
I think we as Christians should take care not to live under the law of Leviticus, worried about what people see, but remember that God sees our inside, he knows the motivation in our hearts to do these things. We need to be holy from the inside out :)

3 - Que eu preciso estar alerta | That I need to be aware

Sim, eu preciso estar sempre alerta, porque quanto mais eu aprendo sobre a Bíblia, maior é a tendência de eu julgar o que as outras pessoas falam. Eu quero ter um coração ensinável!
Yes, I need to be always aware, because the more I learn about the Bible, biggest is the tendency I have to judge what other people say. I want to have a teachable heart.

Estrangeiros em uma terra distante: MOFO :((((( | Foreigners in a distant land: MOLD :((((((((

Quando eu e o Jesse nos mudamos pro nosso apartamento aqui em Tsukuba, ficamos super felizes e empolgados em ter um quarto de "tatami".
When me and Jesse moved to our apartment here in Tsukuba, we were really excited that we had a 'tatami' room.

O tatami é feito de palha de arroz e é um tipo de 'piso' super comum no Japão, principalmente nas casas mais antigas e tradicionais. | Tatami is made of straw and it is a type of 'floor' really common in Japan, especially in the older and traditional houses.

Todo o encantamento passou depois de algumas noites dormindo no chão... E eu entendi o pq da cama da minha avó ser TÃO dura... ahahah mas enfim, depois de algum tempo eu acostumei.
All the enchantment was gone after a few nights sleeping on the floor... and I understood why my grandma's bed is SO hard... but well, after some time, I got used to it...

O inverno foi embora, chegou o calor e a umidade...

E bom, o Jesse é do Colorado, que é um deserto, de tão seco... Lá é tão seco que se você não passar creme TODOS os dias, sua pele 'quebra'. E eu sou de Curitiba, que apesar de ser super úmido, as coisas não ficam mofadas a não ser que você molhe e feche em uma caixa...

Então a gente não sabia que no Japão era assim... :(
The winter was gone and the heat and humidity arrived...
And well, Jesse is from Colorado, which is a desert, because it's so dry... It is so dry over there that if you don't put lotion in your skin EVERY day, your skin breaks. And I am from Curitiba, that even though is super humid, things don't get moldy unless you make it wet and close it inside a box...
So we didn't know that in Japan was like this... :(

Aí hoje a gente descobriu que debaixo das camadas na nossa cama, tinha mofo :((((((( procuramos na internet e descobrimos várias coisas interessantes:

- Descobrimos que sapatos na sapateira mofam, por mofar... - Colocamos um desumidificador na sapateira.

- Descobrimos o pq dos japoneses usarem TANTA coisa de plástico... sendo que eles tem tecnologia e dinheiro pra fazer coisas mais bonitinhas, era algo que sempre nos intrigou, plástico não mofa com tanta facilidade.

- Descobrimos que o tatami precisa ser limpado super frequentemente, não só com o aspirador, mas também com pano.

- Descobrimos que o ar-condicionado ajuda a deixar o ambiente mais seco - e menos favorável pro crescimento de mofo. - Não queremos descobrir o tal do "muito caro" que todo mundo fala sobre o uso do ar-condicionado.

Then today we found out that underneath the layers of our bedding, there was mold :((((((((( we searched on Internet and found out lots of interesting things:
- We found out that shoes in the shoebox get moldy, just like that... - We put a dehumidifier in the showbox.
- We found out why the Japanese people use so many things made out of plastic... even though they have the money and technology to make cuter things, it was something that always made me curious, plastic doesn't get moldy that easy.
- We found out that that the tatami needs to be cleaned frequently, not only with the vacuum cleaner, but also with a cloth.
- We found out that the air conditioner helps the place to get dryer - and less favorable for mold - We don't want to find out the "very expensive" that everybody says about using the AC.

Enfim, o Jesse limpou tudo no quarto, mas estamos temporariamente acampados na sala de estar! E lembrando das leis do Antigo Testamento sobre a impureza das casas com mofo. E orando pedindo pra Deus limpar tudinho e mandar o mofo embora.
Anyways, Jesse cleaned the whole room, but we are temporally camping in the living room! And remembering the laws of the Old Testament about the impurity of the houses with mold. And praying that the Lord will clean everything up and send the mold away.

{Esse foi um post triste, mas sabe, faz parte da vida daqueles que deixam tudo pra trás e depois que passa, vira história pra contar... Agora a gente já sabe e espero que esse post possa ajudar algum brasileiro desavisado que não sabia que tem que deixar o tatami arejar!}

Os Frutos do Espírito | The Fruit of the Spirit

Bom, percebi que tenho que ser fiel com as coisas q Deus me deu, e uma dessas coisas é postar sempre no meu blog, por isso vou tentar colocar algumas histórias, coisas q estão acontecendo, que eu tenho aprendido...

Well, I realized that I have to be faithful with the things God had given me, and one of these things is to always update my blog, so I will try to post some stories, things that have been happening, that I've been learning...

No sábado passado, eu saí com uma amiga japonesa e com a filha dela (de 2 anos). O passeio foi bem legal, mas a filha dela estava bem cansada, por isso ela tava meio chatinha. Por causa disso, ela foi o foco do dia e o foco da conversa. Não tive a chance de falar pra minha amiga sobre Jesus e suas maravilhas... Como eu e o Jesse tínhamos orado por isso, fiquei um pouco decepcionada.

Só que durante a volta pra casa, o Espírito Santo me lembrou de que eu mostrei os frutos do Espírito, ao ser paciente, ao ajudar a cuidar da menina, essas coisas. Ele me lembrou que as vezes a gente não precisa pregar o evangelho com palavras, mas sim com atitudes.

Talvez as coisas não tenham sido do jeito que eu imaginava, mas eu sei que a terra está sendo preparada pra receber a semente do evangelho :)

Last week, I hung out with a Japanese friend and her daughter (2 years old). The ride was fun, but her daughter was really tired and he was a little bit naughty. Because of that, she was the focus os the day and of the conversation. I didn't have a chance to tell my friend about Jesus and his wonders... Since me and Jesse had prayed for that, I was a little frustrated. But when I was coming home, the Holy Spirit reminded me that I showed his fruit, when I was patient, when I helped take care of the girl, these things. He reminded me that sometimes we don't need to preach the gospel with words, but with attitudes. 

Maybe things didn't go as I imagined, but I know that the soil is being prepared to receive the seed of the gospel :)

O cálice da Nova Aliança | The cup of the New Covenant

E vou falar de novo de Santa Ceia, pra provar que tem sido especial mesmo! hahaha

And I will talk again about Communion, just to prove that it has been really special.. hahah

Bom, hoje a gente estava lendo a passagem sobre a Santa Ceia em 1 Coríntios 11: 23-30, e eu percebi duas coisas:

Well, today I was reading the passage about communion in 1 Corinthians 11:23-30 and I noticed two things:

“Isto é o meu corpo, que é dado em favor de vocês; façam isto em memória de mim” - Refere-se ao corpo de Jesus, que foi destruído, amassado, maltratado, morto! Tudo isso por amor a nós. Jesus nos chama a lembrar dos sofrimentos que ele passou pra que a gente possa ter vida eterna!

"This is my body which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” - It refers to the body of Christ, that was destroyed, squeezed, hurt, dead! All of this for the love for us. Jesus calls us to remember the sufferings he had to go through in order for us to have eternal life!

“Este cálice é a nova aliança no meu sangue; façam isso sempre que o beberem em memória de mim”- VIVAA! A nova aliança! Isso significa que a gente não precisa mais fazer as coisas do antigo testamento pra receber salvação e perdão! Já era, já está feito, Jesus já fez tudo por nós, precisamos somente aceitar o presente que ele nos dá!

“This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” - YAY!! The new covenant! That means that we no longer have to do the things on the old testament to receive salvation and forgivenesss! It's done, it's finished, Jesus did everything for us, we just need to receive the gift he has given us!

Esse é Jesus na sua glória, Rei do céu, morrendo por mim

Está finalizado. Ele já fez

A morte foi vencida. O céu me 'chama'

Veja o amor dele, pregado em uma cruz

Uma vida perfeita e sem culpa dada como sacrifício

Lembrando a morte de Jesus | Remembering the death of Jesus

Desde que eu e o Jesse nos casamos, temos tentado tomar a Santa Ceia juntos de vez em quando.
Since me and Jesse got married, we've been trying to take Communion together every once in a while.

A primeira coisa que fizemos depois de sermos declarados "Marido e Mulher" foi relembrar a morte do nosso Senhor Jesus. | The first thing we did as "Husband and Wife" was to remember the death of our Lord Jesus.

Cada vez que tomamos a Ceia é diferente, mas aqui no Japão tem sido muito especial. A gente largou tudo pra vir trabalhar como missionários aqui e não tínhamos ideia de como seria difícil. Muitas vezes dá vontade de desistir, largar tudo e ficar só reclamando. Temos a tendência de achar que estamos sacrificando demais, que isso, que aquilo. Aí chega uma hora que a gente pára tudo pra tomar a Santa Ceia e relembrar a morte de Jesus. Aí a gente lembra que ele sacrificou muito mais, ele tinha uma vida perfeita no paraíso e veio pra esse mundo sujo, cheio de maldade, pra morrer e nos dar vida eterna!

Every time we take Communion is different, but here in Japan it has been very special. We gave up everything in order to come work as missionaries here and we had no idea on how hard it would be. We wanted to give up many times, to just get out of here, only complaining. We have the tendency to think that we are sacrificing too much, this, that... Then it's time for us to share the Communion and remember the death of Christ. Then we remember that he sacrifices way more, he had a perfect life in heaven and he came into this dirty world, full of evil, to die and give us eternal life! 

Antes, eu não conhecia a importância da Santa Ceia, pra mim era mais um ritual. Agora eu vejo como o comando de Jesus era de fato, super esperto e sábio. Lembrar a morte dele faz com que a gente perceba que nenhum sofrimento aqui na terra é demais.

Obrigada Jesus, por mais uma instrução que o Senhor deixou pra nós. Obrigada por 'fazer sentido'. Obrigada por ter vindo e morrido na cruz por nós.

Before, I didn't understand the importance of the Holy Communion, for me it was more of a ritual. Now I see that the commandment of Jesus was, in fact, very smart and wise. Remembering his death makes us realize how no suffering on earth is too much.

Thank you Jesus, for another instruction that you left for us. Thank you for 'making sense'. Thank you for coming and dying at the cross for us.

Quero encorajar você a também tomar a Santa Ceia sem precisar de um empurrão dos pastores! Não se trata de um ritual, é Comunhão com Jesus (em inglês eles até chamam de "Communion").  :)

I want to encourage you to also have communion without the 'push' of the pastors at church. It's not about a ritual, but it is having communion with Jesus himself. :)

Acreditando em verdades ao invés de mentiras | Believing in truths instead of lies

Alguém já mentiu para você?

Você já acreditou em uma mentira que alguém te contou?

Did anyone ever lie to you?

Have you ever believed in a lie that someone told you?

How did you feel?

Tem alguém que está o tempo todo mentindo para você, e quando ele não está mentindo, ele está contando verdades distorcidas.

There's someone who is lying to you all the time, and when he is not lying, he's telling distorted truths.

João 8:44 - Ele foi homicida desde o princípio e não se apegou à verdade, pois não há verdade nele. Quando mente, fala a sua própria língua, pois é mentiroso e pai da mentira.

John 8:44 - He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Mentiras contra Deus: Ora, a serpente era o mais astuto de todos os animais selvagens que o Senhor Deus tinha feito. E ela perguntou à mulher: “Foi isto mesmo que Deus disse: ‘Não comam de nenhum fruto das árvores do jardim’?”  Respondeu a mulher à serpente: “Podemos comer do fruto das árvores do jardim, mas Deus disse: ‘Não comam do fruto da árvore que está no meio do jardim, nem toquem nele; do contrário vocês morrerão’ ”. Disse a serpente à mulher: “Certamente não morrerão! Deus sabe que, no dia em que dele comerem, seus olhos se abrirão, e vocês, como Deus, serão conhecedores do bem e do mal”. - Gênesis 3:1-5

Lies against God: Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made.He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’”  But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die.  For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” - Genesis 3:1-5

- Nessa passagem, o diabo mentiu para Eva, fazendo com que ela acreditasse que o comando de Deus não era tão importante e ele faz isso até hoje, dizendo coisas como "tudo bem se você fizer isso, ninguém tá vendo"ou "quem é que nunca mentiu? Não faz mal contar uma mentirinha..."

- In this passage, the devil lied to Eve, making her believe that God's commandment wasn't that important and he still does that, saying things like "it's ok if you do this, no one is looking" or "who never lied? it's not bad if you tell a little lie..."

- O diabo mente contra Deus ao enganar as pessoas e levá-las a acreditar em falsas doutrinas que parecem Cristianismo, mas não são (testemunhas de Jeová, mórmons, etc.).

- The devil lies against God by deceiving people and making them believe in false doctrines that look like Christianity, but that aren't (Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, etc...)

- Ele mente, dizendo que Deus não existe, ou que Deus não se importa.

- He lies, saying that God doesn't exist, or that he doesn't care.

Mentiras contra você:

Satanás vive mentindo pra gente sobre a gente mesmo, ele usa aquilo que as pessoas disseram no passado pra nos atormentar no presente. Durante a minha adolescência, uma das mentiras que ele sempre me contava era que eu era feia e que nunca ia me casar, ou que não faz mal pecar.

Lies against you:

Satan keeps lying to us about ourselves, he uses things that people said in the past to torment our present. During my teenage years, one of the lies he always told me was that I was ugly and I would never get married, or that it's not bad if you sin.

Mentiras contra o próximo:

Ele também gosta muito de falar que "ele é isso", "ela é aquilo". Ele gosta de usar uma falha que todos nós temos e usamos bastante: o ato de julgar as pessoas. Além disso, ele nos engana, fazendo com que a gente acredite que temos o dom de ler a mente das outras pessoas e saber o que elas estão pensando.

Lies against our neighbors:

He also likes to say "he is that", "she is that". He likes to use a failure that all of us have and that we use a lot: the act of judging people. Also, he deceives us, making us believe that we have the gift of reading other people's minds and know what they are thinking.

- Nós lutamos contra escuridão com a luz, contra a sujeira com limpeza. Então como nós podemos lutar contra as mentiras do inimigo? Com a VERDADE!

- We fight against darkness with light, against dirt with cleaning. So how do we fight against the lies of the enemy? With the TRUTH!

João 8:32 - E conhecerão a verdade, e a verdade os libertará”.

John 8:32 - and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free
João 14:6 - Respondeu Jesus: “Eu sou o caminho, a verdade e a vida. Ninguém vem ao Pai, a não ser por mim.
John 14:6 - Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

- Bíblia: 2 Timóteo 3:16 diz que toda Escritura é inspirada por Deus.

Hebreus 4:12 - Pois a palavra de Deus é viva e eficaz, e mais afiada que qualquer espada de dois gumes; ela penetra até o ponto de dividir alma e espírito, juntas e medulas, e julga os pensamentos e intenções do coração.

- Nós precisamos olhar para a Palavra de Deus para descobrirmos se estamos ouvindo verdade ou mentira.

- Bible: 2 Timothy 3:16 says that all Scripture is inspired by God.

Hebrews 4:12 - For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
- We need to look into the Word of God to find out if we are listening to truths or lies.

- Espírito Santo: João 14:17 - o Espírito da verdade. O mundo não pode recebê-lo, porque não o vê nem o conhece. Mas vocês o conhecem, pois ele vive com vocês e estará em vocês. - Peça para que o Espírito Santo o guie á verdade da Palavra de Deus.

João 15:26 - Quando vier o Conselheiro, que eu enviarei a vocês da parte do Pai, o Espírito da verdade que provém do Pai, ele testemunhará a meu respeito.

- Holy Spirit: John 14:17 - even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you. 

John 15:26 - “But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me.

- Acreditando naquilo que Deus diz que você é: ao invés de ouvir o que o inimigo diz que você é, batalhe contra essas mentiras com a verdade direto da Bíblia.

Minha sugestão é escrever alguns versículos que falam a verdade sobre a sua vida ou uma situação específica e leia todos os dias.

- Believing in what God says that you are: instead of listening to what the enemy says that you are, fight against these lies with truths straight from the Bible.

My suggestion is to write down some verses that speak the truth about your life or a specific situation and read it every day.

EX: 1 Pedro 2: 9-10 - Vocês, porém, são geração eleita, sacerdócio real, nação santa, povo exclusivo de Deus, para anunciar as grandezas daquele que os chamou das trevas para a sua maravilhosa luz. 10 Antes vocês nem sequer eram povo, mas agora são povo de Deus; não haviam recebido misericórdia, mas agora a receberam.

Isaías 43:1-7 - Mas agora assim diz o Senhor, aquele que o criou, ó Jacó, aquele que o formou, ó Israel: “Não tema, pois eu o resgatei; eu o chamei pelo nome; você é meu. Quando você atravessar as águas, eu estarei com você; quando você atravessar os rios, eles não o encobrirão. Quando você andar através do fogo, não se queimará; as chamas não o deixarão em brasas. Pois eu sou o Senhor, o seu Deus, o Santo de Israel, o seu Salvador; dou o Egito como resgate para livrá-lo, a Etiópia e Sebá em troca de você. Visto que você é precioso e honrado à minha vista, e porque eu o amo, darei homens em seu lugar, e nações em troca de sua vida. Não tenha medo, pois eu estou com você, do oriente trarei seus filhos e do ocidente ajuntarei você. Direi ao norte: Entregue-os! e ao sul: Não os retenha. De longe tragam os meus filhos, e dos confins da terra as minhas filhas; todo o que é chamado pelo meu nome,

EX: 1 Peter 2:9-10 - But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

Isaiah 43:1-7 - But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I give Egypt as your ransom, Cush and Seba in exchange for you. Because you are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you, I give men in return for you, peoples in exchange for your life. Fear not, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east, and from the west I will gather you. I will say to the north, Give up, and to the south, Do not withhold; bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the end of the earth, everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”

- Como reconhecer a voz de Deus e a voz do inimigo: Deus nunca vai te condenar. Quando o inimigo diz: "Você não merece perdão", Deus diz: "Eu já te perdoei"

- How to recognize God's voice and the enemy's voice: God will never condemn you. When the enemy says: "You don't deserve forgiveness", God says: "I've already forgiven you"

Mesmo quando as coisas vão de mal a pior, Deus vê a figura inteira lá de cima, ele sabe o que vai acontecer em seguida. Talvez você esteja acreditando em uma mentira do inimigo por causa das circunstâncias que você vê agora, mas Deus sabe exatamente o que vai acontecer no futuro!!

Even when things are going from bad to worst, God sees the whole picture from the above, he knows what will happen afterwards. Maybe you are believing in a lie from the enemy because of the circumstances you see now, but God knows exactly what will happen in the future!!

Perseguição no Japão | Persecution in Japan

Sim, é verdade que no Japão nós podemos adorar o nosso Deus livremente. Antes de vir, isso até foi algo que me deixou aliviada, mas ao chegar aqui, eu percebi que não era bem assim.
Yes, it is true that in Japan we can freely worship our God. Before coming here, this was something that made me relieved, but when I arrived here, I noticed that it was not like that.

O Cristianismo é quase inexistente, cerca de 1% da população conhece a Jesus. A grande maioria da população é ou shintoísta, ou budista, mas nem por isso eles realmente seguem essas religiões. O Japão é realmente um país de escuridão espiritual e nós, como cristãos, sentimos isso na pele, no espírito, na alma, em todo lugar. Temos que sempre nos lembrar de que "maior é o que está em nós do que o que está no mundo".
Christianity is almost absent, about 1% of the population knows Jesus. The biggest part of the people are shintoist, or buddhist, but that doesn't mean that they follow the religion. Japan is really a place of spiritual darkness and us, Christians, feel that on the skin, the spirit, the soul, everywhere. We have to always remember that "bigger is he who is in us than the one in the world".

A perseguição aqui não está nas armas ou na violência, mas está no silêncio, no orgulho, no "não querer ouvir" e no "não me ofenda". Uma das maiores dificuldades em se pregar o evangelho aqui no Japão é quebrar essas barreiras, ser ousado e falar aquilo que essas pessoas precisam ouvir. Outro problema é que as pessoas são muito fechadas, não contam da sua vida e até se ofendem se você ficar perguntando, de forma que até para criar relacionamentos é difícil.

Jesus disse que nós seríamos perseguidos e é um erro achar que porque o Japão é um país "livre" isso não acontece.
Persecution here is not on the guns or violence, but in the silence, the pride, in the "I don't want to hear" and in the "don't offend me". One of the biggest difficulties in preaching the gospel here is to break down this barriers, be bold and speak what the people need to hear. Another problem is that people are very closed, they don't tell about their lives and even get offended if you ask too much, so even creating relationships is hard.
Jesus told us that we would be persecutes and it is a mistake to think that only because Japan is a 'free' country that doesn't happen.

Vamos orar pela igreja perseguida no Japão, porque por mais que haja liberdade "na lei" para adorar ao Senhor, a cultura do 'não-ofenda' acaba perseguindo e atrapalhando o crescimento do Reino de Deus.
Let's pray for the persecuted church in Japan, because even though there's freedom in the 'law' to worship the Lord, the culture of the 'don't offend me' ends up persecuting and getting on the way of the growth of God's Kingdom.

Ore pra que Deus mande mais missionários para o Japão!
Pray that God will send more missionaries to Japan!

Sakai

Um dos lugares em que nós estamos trabalhando para espalhar o evangelho é uma cidadezinha a cerca de 2 horas de Tókio chamada Sakai. A cidade é bem pequena, há apenas uma rua principal e várias plantações ao redor do centrinho.

One of the places we are working at to spread the gospel is a little town around 2 hours away from Tokyo called Sakai. The town is really small, there's only one main street and lots of farms around the little downtown.

Os cultos da igreja New Creation acontecem em Sakai e eu e o Jesse participamos desse culto 2 vezes por mês, sendo que o Jesse prega uma vez por mês. A igreja está localizada dentro do T-Place, que é um shopping (digamos, um shopping popular da vida…) onde temos duas salas de karaoke para nos reunirmos. O Senhor tem nos abençoado nesse lugar, nos dando favor com o gerente do shopping, que inclusive permitiu que usássemos a segunda sala de graça, colocou uma Tv enorme na frente da sala, permitiu que a gente colocasse coisas pra isolar o som e por aí vai…
The services of the New Creation church happen in Sakai and me and Jesse participate on this service 2 times a month, and Jesse preaches once a month. The church is located inside T-Place, that is a mall where we have to former karaoke rooms to meet. The Lord has blessed un in this place, giving us favor with the shopping's manager, that allowed us to use the second room for free, put a huge tv in front of the room and allowed us to put styrofoam to isolate the sound and so it goes... 

Durante a semana, eu e o Jesse vamos para Sakai (cerca de 1 hora de distância de Tsukuba) com o objetivo de começar uma escola de inglês para criar relacionamentos com as pessoas aqui na cidade e é claro, eventualmente apresentar o evangelho.
During the week, me and Jesse go to Sakai (about 1 hour drive from Tsukuba) with the objective of starting an English school to create relationships with people from the city and of course, eventually presenting the gospel.

Por enquanto, nós estamos fazendo um "English Conversation Café" para os funcionários do shopping, que podem vir aqui e conversar em inglês por cerca de 15 minutos e tomar um café ou chá. Tem sido uma benção poder conhecer essas pessoas que estão ao nosso redor. Queremos ser luz para eles.
For now, we are doing an "English Conversation Cafe" to the workers of the mall, that can come here and speak English for about 15 minutes and have some tea or coffee. It's been a blessing to meet these people around us. We want to be light for them.

Além disso, durante esse mês de abril, estivemos anunciando e distribuindo muitos flyers sobre a nossa aula de inglês para crianças, Kids Brown. Não tem sido fácil, as pessoas não são muito receptivas, não tem interesse em aprender inglês e a parte que mais dói, eles passam direto sem nem dar bola pra gente falando nossa super frase em japonês "atarashii taipu no eigo kyoshitsu desu" (novo tipo de aula de inglês). No entanto, as aulas irão começar no mês que vem e estamos confiantes que Deus vai fazer coisas incríveis através desse novo ministério!
Also, during this month of April, we have been announcing and distributing flyers about our English classes for children, Kids Brown. It hasn't been easy, the people are not very welcoming, are not interested in learning English and the most hurtful part is, they walk away from us without even paying attention to our amazing Japanese phrase "atarashii taipu no eigo kyoshitsu desu" (new type of English classes). Therefore, the classes will start next month and we are confident that God will do amazing things through this new ministry!

Também estamos dando aulas particulares, assim a gente pode levantar o nosso próprio sustento e também conhecer as pessoas mais a fundo. Por enquanto temos somente 2 alunas, mas sabemos que Deus irá mandar alunos o suficiente para cobrir as nossas despesas e também para podermos ministrar a vida dessas pessoas.
We have also been teaching private lessons, this way we can raise our own support and meet people more deeply. So far, we have only 2 students, but we know that the Lord will send enough students to cover our costs and also so we can minister to these lives.

Apesar de todas as dificuldades de se trabalhar em Sakai, Deus tem se mostrado fiel e inclusive, fazendo brotar frutos! Na primeira vez que eu e o Jesse viemos para o T-Place, conhecemos uma brasileira chamada Laurene e Deus me deu a oportunidade de conhecê-la melhor e convidá-la para vir a igreja. Depois de muita luta, ela conseguiu vir e recebeu Jesus no seu coração e a paz que ela tanto ansiava! Deus é bom demais! É tão bom ver vidas encontrando o amor de Jesus!
Despite all the difficulties of working in Sakai, God has been showing himself as faithful and also, bearing fruit! The first time we came to T-Place, we met a Brazilian lady called Laurene and God gave me the opportunity to get to know her better  and invite her to come to church. After lots of hardships, she came and received Jesus in her heart and the peace she needed. God is so good! It's so good to see lives encountering the love of Jesus!

P.S. O tempo de Deus é perfeito! Quando eu conheci a Laurene e chamei ela pra ir pra igreja eu pensei "Putz, quer ver q eu vou ter q dar a minha única bíblia em português, que eu comprei e encapei, na versão que eu queria, no tamanho que eu queria, exatamente pra poder viajar…" e confesso que eu não queria dar não… mas Deus foi aprofundando o meu amor e carinho pela vida dela e agora que ela aceitou a Jesus, eu estou pronta e ansiosa pra entregar a Bíblia para ela, que eu até embalei pra presente! E não há alegria maior do que dar essa bíblia de presente para alguém que está tão sedento de mais de Jesus!
P.S. God's timing in perfect! When I met Laurene and invited her to come to church I asked "Aw, I will have to give her my only Bible in Portuguese, that I bought and made pretty, the version I wanted, the size I wanted, exactly so I can travel with it..." and I confess that I didn't want to give it to her... but God was deepening my love and care for her life and now that she's accepted Jesus, I am ready and anxious to give her the Bible, that I also wrapped as a gift! There's no bigger joy than giving this Bible to someone who is so thirsty for more of Jesus!

De dentro pra fora! | From the Inside Out

"Pois é do interior, do coração dos homens, que procedem os maus pensamentos, as prostituições, os furtos, os homicídios, os adultérios, a cobiça, as maldades, o dolo, a libertinagem, a inveja, a blasfêmia, a soberba, a insensatez; todas estas más coisas procedem de dentro e contaminam o homem." Marcos 7:21-23

For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft,murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.” - Mark 7:21-23

Um pouquinho antes dessa passagem da Bíblia, Jesus estava dizendo que não é aquilo que a gente coloca pra dentro que nos torna impuros, mas pelo contrário, aquilo que sai de dentro de nós. Nisso ele mostra que a nossa natureza é realmente carnal!
A little bit before this passage on the Bible, Jesus was saying that it's not what we put inside our bodies that make us impure, but actually, what comes from the inside. In this, he shows us that our nature is really fleshly.

Aqui no Japão, uma das minhas lutas mais constantes é não deixar que todas essas coisas - os maus pensamentos, as prostituições, os furtos, os homicídios, os adultérios, a cobiça, as maldades, o dolo, a libertinagem, a inveja, a blasfêmia, a soberba, a insensatez - tomem conta da minha mente. É muito fácil culpar o "ambiente espiritual" ou os "ataques do inimigo" em todos os momentos em que a minha carne 'vence', mas eu preciso renovar a minha mente e assumir que tudo isso faz parte da minha natureza pecaminosa e deixar o Senhor me transformar. É claro que o ambiente influencia - e muito - mas não pode ser desculpa pro meu jeito de agir. Se um pensamento mau, ou algo ruim SAIU da minha boca ou de mim, é porque estava DENTRO de mim e não porque estava ao meu redor.
Here in Japan, one of my main struggles is not to let these things - evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft,murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness - to take over my mind. It's so easy to blame the 'spiritual realm' and the 'attacks from the enemy' in all the moments when my flesh 'wins', but I need to renew my mind and admit that it is all part of my sinful nature and let the Lord transform me. Of course the realm influences - a lot - but that cannot be an excuse for the way I act. If a bad thought, or something bad CAME OUT of my mouth or from me, it is because it was INSIDE of me and not around me.

Jesus, por favor transforma o meu coração.  Eu não quero ter essa natureza pecaminosa dentro de mim e não quero usar o "ambiente espiritual" ou qualquer outra coisa como desculpa. Dá-me um coração como o teu e que de mim saiam somente os frutos do Espírito Santo.
Jesus, please transform my heart. I don't want to have this sinful nature inside of me and I don't want to use the 'spiritual realm' or any other thing as an excuse. Give me a heart like yours and that from me, only the fruits of the Spirit come out.

Mas o fruto do Espírito é: o amor, o gozo, a paz, a longanimidade, a benignidade, a bondade, a fidelidade, a mansidão, o domínio próprio; contra estas coisas não há lei. E os que são de Cristo Jesus crucificaram a carne com as suas paixões e concupiscências. Se vivemos pelo Espírito, andemos também pelo Espírito. - Gálatas 5:22-25

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. - Galatians 5:22-25

O dia dela! | Her day!

Hoje é o aniversário da minha mãe! Sem dúvidas a mulher mais especial da minha vida! A mulher que me ensinou tanta coisa e que serve de exemplo de esposa, mulher e mãe para mim. Agradeço demais a Deus por ter colocado você na minha vida, não só como minha mamãe, mas também como minha melhor amiga! Depois que eu cresci, eu percebi a importância dos seus conselhos e da sua companhia e nada, nem ninguém no mundo pode substituir você. Eu sinto muitas saudades de ir passear no shopping com você, de fazer scrapbook ou fazer qualquer coisa com você! Queria tanto estar por perto, te abraçar nesse dia especial, mas Deus quis que eu fosse parar exatamente do outro lado do mundo. Apesar de não ser fácil, eu pude realmente parar pra pensar em você e lembrar de tudo de bom que você representa para mim e de como eu te valorizo e te admiro! Te amo, mamãe. Sinto saudades de você!

Today is my mom's birthday! No doubt the most special woman in my life! The woman who taught me so much and who is an example of wife, woman and mom to me. I thank God for puttinh you in my life, not only as my mommy, but also as my best friend! After I grow up, I realized the importance of your advice and your company, and nothing, and no one in this world could substitute you. I miss going to the mall with you, doing scrapbooking or doing anything with you! I wish I was closer, to hug you in this special day, but God wanted me to be in the exact opposite side of the world. It's not easy, but at least I could think about you and remember all the good things that you represent to me and how I value and admire you! I love you, mommy. I miss you!
