Qual é a sua intenção? | What's your intention?

Durante os três anos em que Jesus exerceu o seu ministério, muitas pessoas corriam atrás dele em busca de milagres: cura de cegueira, cura de lepra, cura de paralisia e assim por diante... Hoje em dia as coisas não mudaram muito, as pessoas ainda vão atrás de Jesus e da igreja em busca de cura, seja ela para as doenças, para o coração, para o bolso...

During the three years that Jesus did ministry here on earth, many people went after him looking for miracles: healing for blindness, healing of leprosy, healing of paralysis, and so it goes... Today things haven't changed a lot, people still go after Jesus and the church looking for healing, either it is for sickness, for the hears, for the finances...

Mas a questão aqui é a seguinte: Jesus conhecia o coração das pessoas que o buscavam, ele sabia quem o seguia por acreditar que ele era o Messias, e também sabia quem estava indo atrás dele com segundas intenções. Lucas 17:11-19 conta a história dos dez leprosos que pediram a Jesus que tivesse misericórdia deles e os curasse. Jesus mandou eles irem até os sacerdotes para serem examinados e durante o trajeto, todos eles foram curados. No entanto, somente um deles voltou para agradecer e glorificar a Deus.

But here's the matter: Jesus knew the heart of the people who followed him, he knew who followed him because they believed he was the Messiah, and he also knew who was going after him with second intentions. Luke 17:11-19 tells the story of the 10 lepers that asked Jesus for mercy and healing. Jesus told them to go to the priest to be examined and during the ride, all of them were healed. Therefore, only one of them came back to thank and glorify God.

Infelizmente, essa história se repete de novo e de novo, muitas pessoas vão até Jesus somente com a intenção de receber alguma coisa e dai caem fora. E ele, que conhece o nosso coração como ninguém, sabe qual é a nossa real motivação ao buscá-lo. Mesmo indo para a igreja todas as semanas, podemos cair no mesmo erro dos nove leprosos da história e buscar a Jesus só quando queremos algo.

Unfortunately, this story repeats itself again and again, many people go after Jesus only wanting to get something and then they get out. And Jesus, who knows our hearts like to one else, know what's our real intention on seeking him. Even though we go to church every week, we can fall into the same mistake the 9 lepers had and seek Jesus only when we want something.

Eu estava pensando em como é chato quando as pessoas se aproximam da gente só por interesse e comecei a imaginar como Jesus se sentia, já que ele tinha poder pra fazer qualquer coisa e todo mundo ia atrás dele pra pedir algo. Eu imagino que ele se entristecia quando as pessoas o buscavam só pra conseguir o que queriam. Eu me entristeceria (na verdade, eu ficaria furiosa, não ia querer curar ninguém que não tivesse afim de me adorar de verdade, hehe).

I was thinking of how annoying it is when people get closer to us only for interest and started wondering how Jesus felt, since he could do anything and everybody went after him to ask for something. I imagine that he got sad when people only wanted him in order to get something. I'd be sad (actually, mad, I wouldn't want to heal anyone that didn't worship me for real, hehe).

Confesso que muitas vezes eu busco a Jesus só pra pedir alguma coisa, então eu preciso me lembrar de que ele é meu melhor amigo e que ninguém quer um amigo que só fica pedindo favor o tempo inteiro.

I admit that sometimes I seek Jesus only to ask something, then I need to remember that he is my best friend and that no one wants a friend who asks for favors all the time.

Nem foi preciso tanto tempo em missões pra descobrir que missionário é o quebra-galho oficial da igreja. Cheguei a essa conclusão depois de notar que missionário faz o louvor, prega, dá testemunho, visita hospital, orfanato, asilo e o que mais precisar. Missionário dá aula de inglês, serve como médico ou enfermeiro, cuida de crianças, adolescentes, adultos e velhinhos. Missionário monta e desmonta igreja, ajuda a construir casas, faz evangelismo na rua e até faz livro pra expor a realidade social. Missionário distribui comida, física e espiritual. Missionário também estuda e quando é preciso, vira ator ou dançarino, faz apresentações que simbolizam o evangelho, e ainda, dedica os seus dias em louvor, adoração e intercessão.

I didn't even have to spend that much time on missions to find out that missionaries are the official "jacks of all trades" of the church. I got to this conclusion after noticing that missionaries lead the worship, preaches, visits hospitals, orphanages, nursing homes and whatever is needed. Missionaries teach English, serves as a doctor or nurse, takes care of children, teenagers, adults and old people. Missionaries set up and down the church, help to build houses, does evangelism on the street and even make books to expose the social reality. Missionaries give away food, physical and spiritual. Missionaries also study and when it's needed, becomes an actor or dancer, helps on skit that represent the gospels and spends his day in worship, praise and intercession.

É a profissão menos monótona do mundo, cada dia é diferente, em um lugar da terra diferente. Ao servir ao Senhor, você tem a oportunidade de conhecer novas culturas e ampliar horizontes.

It's the least monotonic occupation, each day is different, in a different place. When you are serving the Lord, you have the opportunity to meet new cultures and open up your eyes.

Há uma necessidade de trabalhadores para a posição de missionários, uma vez que o trabalho é imenso.

- Não é preciso ter experiência, nem ter nenhum talento específico. O chefe distribui os talentos de acordo com a vontade dEle.

- Local de trabalho: indefinido, pode ser na sua própria vizinhança ou pode ser do outro lado do mundo.

- Horário de trabalho: indefinido, pra alguns é durante os finais de semana, para outros durante a semana inteira. Depende da sua disponibilidade e disposição.

- Salário: alegria, paz, amor, satisfação, transformação, e é claro, a recompensa eterna.

É importante ressaltar que depois de trabalhar no Reino de Deus, sua vida nunca mais será a mesma.

There's a huge need for workers in the mission field, since the work is very big.

- There's no need for experience, not even a specific gift. The boss distributes the gifts according to his will.

- Place of work: undefined, it can be on your own neighborhood or on the other side of the world.

- Time of work: undefined, for some is during the weekends, for others during the whole week. It depends on your availability and desire.

- Salary: happiness, peace, love, satisfaction, transformation and of course, the eternal reward.

It is important to make sure you know that after working for the Kingdom of God, your life will never be the same.
