It took me a lecture on Personal Marketing to find out the obvious: people like to be treated as individuals.
Oh, and I also had to put that into practice to notice that in the Kingdom of God the same thing happens!

Two Sundays ago, me and Jesse were responsible for the reception at my church. A boy that I've never seem there arrived. We said hello and a little bit later, instead of being in his chair, he was wandering around.

Jesse went to talk to him, introduce himself and stuff. They talked for a while, until time for us to leave the reception and go to 'our place'. Jesse invited him to come, but he didn't want to. So I told Jesse to go back there and stay with him during worship. When the sermon started, they came and sat next to me.

After the service, Jesse kept talking to him and we invited him to come to an event at church on the next Saturday (from 9h to 17h!)

To our surprise, he really showed up! Jesse was sitting with him.

I was already super happy! Only because we gave him attention and talked to him individually, the boy had gone to church again and I imagine he had recommitted his life to Jesus (don't know for sure, cause Jesse got confused with the Portuguese and I wasn't there haahah)

And as if that hadn't been enough for our happiness, the next day, he went to church and went straight to sit with us :)

It may seem like a simple story, but the feeling of satisfaction that we had was so big we can't explain! It was a great joy that could only have come from Jesus! This Sunday, when I saw him arrive, I wanted to cry for happiness!

If we only noticed the different people at our church, we wouldn't have room for any more! How many lives could be changed if we only decided to get out of our comfort zone and to talk to each ONE, the way they deserve to be treated, like Jesus taught us?

Remember: people go to church after something. Why don't we give them more of Jesus? :D

Kairo

No Japão faz muuuuuuito frio!
It gets reaaaaaaally cold in Japan! And the houses don't have central heating (true!). But it's so cold it hurts, specially with the cold wind!
But of course they have their way of getting warm. One of the things I found the most interesting is this "Kairo", that is a sack with volcanic rocks that you rub and it gets warm for hours! This version (with terrible pics) is a pocket one, but you can also find Kairo with adhesive to put on your clothes and there's also an electronic one.
Interesting, right?

"Estamos em maior número" | "There are more on our side"

Eles chegaram à noite e cercaram a cidade.
Surpreso, viu cavalos e carros cercando a cidade.

2 Reis 6:13-17

The king said, “Go and find out where he is. I’ll send someone and capture him.”
The report came back, “He’s in Dothan.”
Then he dispatched horses and chariots, an impressive fighting force. They came by night and surrounded the city.
Early in the morning a servant of the Holy Man got up and went out. Surprise! Horses and chariots surrounding the city! The young man exclaimed, “Oh, master! What shall we do?”
He said, “Don’t worry about it—there are more on our side than on their side.”
Then Elisha prayed, “O God, open his eyes and let him see.”
The eyes of the young man were opened and he saw. A wonder! The whole mountainside full of horses and chariots of fire surrounding Elisha!

2 Kings 6:13-17

Today I was reading this passage on the Bible and I was in awe of God! Many times we can't see what's happening in the Spiritual realm, but we can be sure that the angels of the Lord are around us, taking care of us.
May you have the courage to face any giant that may appear in your life, because the Lord is with you, he's guarding you even when you can't see!

Sobre servir! | About serving!

A full heart!
Guys, I'm pouring out my heart in this post, but I only decided to do that because I learned many lessons about serving.

Today we had a huge event at my church and because it was so big (almost 2.000 people), I changed my position of "help at Pr. Lucinho's store" to "Canteen cashier". But, it happens that sometimes I didn't have anything to do, but I couldn't leave my position, so I could observe people and learn lessons. I didn't hear anything of the sermon, but I know God ministered on my heart in a different and special way.

I saw gorgeous girls, well dressed and looking good, putting on gloves and getting the bucket, disinfectant and toilet paper, ready to go clean the toilets. I was thinking now and MAN, seriously, boys, pay attention, these ladies are worthy! Not only because of their external beauty, but especially because of their inside beauty, of submitting themselves to do one of the dirtiest tasks, literally! I admit that when I had to tell the leader that the female toilet was dirty, I as a little bit concerned that he would tell me to go clean it. If you are one of those girls and are reading this post, know that I started to admire you in a new way and that I was very happy, because hidden in your attitude is your heart.

I saw people making fun of others because they were serving, like "yay, my part is over, but yours isn't" and I was VERY sad, because we were doing the simplest job of all, with not dirt, no water, no pain, nothing! And I was even sadder to see people making fun of one of the guys who worked the most to make this event happen, because he was taking a picture instead of helping (in ONE thing). Honoring is a good thing.

I started to do something simple, to make the chair covers look straight. Why? Because my Jesus deserves my best! Even if no one notices what I did or what I didn't do, my Jesus deserves the best of ALL! So, God told me a simple thing, that is the main topic of my post. Jesus wants us to serve HIM, not the church, the pastor or the leader. He is the one whom I am serving and it is Him that I want to honor and glorify! Unto Him I will do my best and I will find strength from anywhere to serve. O

Mas ó, se você for o líder, lembre-se que é você que tem que dar o exemplo! Os seus liderados vão olhar pra você!
But man, if you are the leader, remember that you have to set the example! The people led by you will look at you!

And if you got offended, I'm sorry, but I can't stand seeing people doing things half heartily to God! I am tired of seeing people at church doing things for other people to see! Believe me, I can tell! If it is to serve men, or to show yourself, seriously, there are business that will pay for you to do that! At church it's volunteer, so remember that you are doing it for Jesus, the only one worthy and deserver of our best!

Ok, I am usually very nice here, so it might seem harsh, but I really believe these words"

"Vós me chamais o Mestre e o Senhor e dizeis bem; porque eu o sou.
"You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet." John 13:13-14

"But whoever would be great among you must be your servant: Matthew 20:26b

Pra fazer em casa - comida no Japão | To make at home - food in Japan

Oi gente, tudo bem?
Hi guys, how are you? I'm posting very quickly and since I have a folder on my computer with the pics of interesting foods, here it goes:
Nori, or, seaweed. This is the specific size for making onigiri, that is usually made at home and it's very common to be taken for lunch or a snack.

This is like a powder that you mix into the rice to make onigiri - the rice balls, as you can see on the pic - and it's curry flavored

These two abor were something I found in one of my last visits at the Japanese grocery store and since it was very cheap, I decided to try. It's a mixture to make risotto. The flavor is awful! hahah

Now this one is the Chaham and I love it even though it's probably very bad for my health (I can't read the ingredients, so I'm not sure). You make a scrambled egg (to put in some protein), then put the rice, the powder and the liquid that come inside, mix well, add another egg and it's delicious!

(Normalmente eu usava atum)
Inside this glass there are salmon flakes that they use to make onigiri, it's only mix with mayo and put inside the rice ball. Very practical (I used to use tuna)

Mistura para Karê - Curry. Super prático, fácil, delicioso! Tinha karê toda semana na minha casa!
Curry mix. Very easy and delicious! We had curry every week at our home!

Haven't tried this one yet, it's here in Brazil, but I think it is to make soup or something like that. Does anyone want to try?

Comidas interessantes do Japão | Interesting foods in Japan

Well, in fact almost everything in Japan is interesting, but this pic session was chosen because all of these were ready to eat... well, almost ready.

This is the delicious rice bun and veggie tempura burger from Mos Burger. Very japanesy, right? But actually, I like the American one better!

This is the food you DON'T but ready to eat! This is yakiniku, the japanese barbeque! We receive the raw meat sliced very thinly and we have to cook it on a grill on the table! It's very fun! Oh, and the meat doesn't come seasoned, after you cook it, you have to season it with a special sauce.

The three photos above are from a turkish restaurant! Yummy! In Japan it's very easy to find turkish, iranian, indian food... uhm, I love naan s2

This is yakitori, the chicken skewer that I think it's weird... but it's really japanese!

These are only a few pictures! But there's more! The next post will be about something Japanese you can't find in Brazil: the drinks!

Today I was thinking.. it's so good to have a relationship with the Holy Spirit. It's an honor! How much suffering can we avoid if we simply listen to his voice and obey.

I have a very clear example! When I was at my Godmother's house, I started watching Heroes with Jesse, but the Holy Spirit told me clearly not to watch it. I was stubborn and watched until I was very afraid. The Holy Spirit knows what is our limit. He know how far we can go and he just wants to protect us. After I finally stopped watching it, it's as if my spirit was super sensitive to the things in the spiritual world, even knowing that greater is the one who's in me than the one who's in the world. But seriously, I didn't even want to go to the bathroom by myself.

The worst thing was knowing that I had ignored the advice of the Holy Spirit and that if I had obeyed, things would have been different. That's why I say: Thank you Holy Spirit for guiding me, for teaching me, for being an awesome companionship for movies, for being with me and for being my friend.

Ramen: o delicioso macarrão japonês | the delicious Japanese noodles

"Better to have one bird in your hand than two flying" is a Brazilian expression that represents what I feel now, since I am writing again about food in Japan...

I came to tell you about one of the most delicious foods in Japan *mouth watering*: ramen! :) This noodles/soup is one of the most popular dishes in Japan and it can be found pretty much in any corner. The prices can vary a lot (from 290 yens to 1000 yens - USD3 to USD10), but me and Jesse liked to go to this chain store that until now I haven't discovered the name. Of course, if you are that curious, you can simply read what's written in the bowl below :P

(Abaixo!)
This picture shows one of the most traditional flavors, the shoyu ramen, or, the ramen with soy sauce. I used to like this one, until I found the best ramen in the world (below!)

This is the Yasai Ramen, or the ramen with veggies with a salt flavor. It's too good! Since ramen is pretty much only the noodles with sauce and a little bit of meat, I loved this one with vegetables, because it was much healthier and yummier. I already want to eat it again! :)

This is the variation of ramen that Jesse likes the most. He liked misso ramen, that is made with a Japanese paste made out of the fermentation of rice, barley and soy with sauce. It sounds weirs but miso is delicious!

When you get a chance, do try this delicious Japanese food. In Curitiba, you can try it at Lamen House. Of course it's not the same thing, but you can at least remember the flavors of the land of the rising sun.

Uns lançam a semente... | Some people sow the seeds...

This story touched me deeply in Japan. At first, I didn't want to post it here on the blog, but afterwards I realized that this story could encourage many people.

Many times, we plant the seed and we don't know what happened afterwards. Other times, it seems that our work was useless. Therefore, we can't be dismayed only because we don't see any results. We need to trust that the Lord is the one who makes the plant grow.

"So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow."

One day, me and Jesse helped on a camp for children in Sendai (area affected by the tsunami in 2011). On the way back home, they put us on a bus that arrived in Tokyo at 6am. Since it was our day off and we were already in Tokyo, we decided to stay there and visit the Shijuku area.

Andamos, andamos, andamos.
We walked, walked, walked. We walked until my feet could walk anymore. On lunch time, we found a place with lots os restaurants and I decided to find a place to sit while Jesse looked at the options for us.

When I was waiting, I was observing the Japanese people around me and that filled my heart with compassion, because I knew that pretty much all of them would die and go to hell. So I started to pray for the people around me and I asked the Lord to show me if he wanted me to talk to someone. After the prayer I was a little bit afraid, after all, I don't even know how to speak Japanese!

We ended up choosing an Italian place that was much more expensive than what we could spend, but even though I didn't like my food (I even had to trade with Jesse...), it was worth each yen, only because of the opportunity the Lord opened up in that place.

We chose an area that had two tables for two people and we ordered our food. Soon after that, a guy in a wheelchair arrived and sat next to us. The first wheelchair person I saw in Japan in 9 months!!

O medo e a tristeza começaram a tomar conta do rosto dele.
I started to observe him, directly (just needed to look to the right, since he was in front of me) and indirectly (I looked to the left and there was a vase with a mirror that allowed me to look at his expressions). I noticed that he was looking to his own arms and touching it, as if he was afraid of not feeling it anymore. The fear and the sadness started to show in his face.

Soon, the Holy Spirit reminded me of my prayer of minutes early and gave me conviction that this was the man I was supposed to talk to. I started crying and asked Jesse to do something. He started to talk to him, but the guy soon stopped the conversation, like "don't you see I am eating?".

I got super sad, as if the guy thought we were talking to him out of pity. I don't know why, but I had the impression that the guy was planning to kill himself, in that very day (Japan has one of the biggest suicide rates in the world and even losing a job is a reason for suicide) and that usually people simply ignore him.

Anyways, he kept that expression of pain and desperation on his face and I was super frustrated with the failure in trying to touch this guy's life. He was visibly moved by the situation, he didn't even finish eating and left the restaurant.

When he left, I didn't know what to do. Part of me thought "I at least tried", but other part thought that I couldn't let his life be lost, or worst, I couldn't let him take his life without knowing Jesus. I decided to go after him and on the way I decided to say "Iesu wa anata o aishiteimasu" (Jesus loves you). But I couldn't find him.

I came back to the restaurant completely desperate, feeling the weight of his soul on me (specially because of that feeling of suicide) and I prayed asking God to find him again. Soon after that, I saw his passing in front of the restaurant. I got up and ran to go talk to him. I said I was sorry (for earlier), that I was a Brazilian and that my Japanese was very weak, then I said that Jesus loves him. He nodded, said something like "yes, yes, (don't bother)" and I came back to the restaurant, crying.

I couldn't stop crying, so much pain and so much compassion that I was feeling, it was unexplainable. I think I was feeling what Jesus feels for this guy.

But I knew that everything else would be Jesus' work, he is the one who will make the plant grow and despite all the desperation, I was able to rest in the Lord, knowing that I didn't deny the work that God gave me and knowing that the Lord is faithful and that for sure, that man's life was touched.

I will never know what happened to this guy, but independently of what happens, the seed was thrown, my faith renewed and the Lord is faithful to make sure his purposes take place on this earth. The prayer I prayed was easy to be answered. God will always answer if you ask him for an opportunity to talk of his love. Sometimes we just need to open our eyes!

Onigiri - o bolinho de arroz | the rice ball

One of the things I wanted to eat the most in Japan were the onigiris, which were simply a rice ball with something inside (I used to eat the tuna with mayo one) with a nori - seaweed - around.

You can find the onigiris anywhere! At the convenience stores, at the markets, way too easy! Besides that, it was a flavorful, cheap and nutritious snack. It costs about 100 to 150 yens. (USD1 to USD1,5).

Yumm
You only need to open the package and enjoy it! Yumm

This was the last onigiri Jesse ate in Japan... salmon!

Kit Kats do Japão | Japan's Kit Kats

Whoever follows me on Instagram might have seem the pictures of the Strawberry and Pumpkin Kit Kats I ate in Japan. Besides these two, I also tried the normal, the dark version and the matcha green tea.

I admit that I was a little frustrated with what I found, because I imagined that it would be really easy to find the craziest flavors there. In fact, I only found these flavors when I was literally leaving Japan... at the airport!

Unfortunately, when I found those Kit Kats, I didn't have any more yens to spend :( That's why I took the pictures... hahaha maybe someday I'll try them too.

The flavors on this picture, from left to right, top to bottom are: Wasabi, Rum and Raisins, Chili, Strawberry, Strawberry Cheesecake, Sakura Green Tea and Green Tea.

We were able to try both of the Green Tea ones, since those were the only ones with a small pack and cheap... the pink one was yummier.
Did you know Japan had such a variety on Kit Kats? Which one would you like to try? My favorite one was the pumpkin!

A graça de Deus e a ira da Erika | God's grace and Erika's anger

Oi, tudo bem?
Hello guys, how are you?
I still have tons of things to post about Japan, can you believe? Today I was looking on my computer and I found a post ready to be posted, but when I wrote it, I was so mad I felt like I shouldn't post. Therefore, when I read it today, I felt that it would be interesting for people to know what's been happening in Japan!
--

Do you know what makes me really mad here in Japan? It's the action of the Jehovah's witnesses!

In a completely dark place, the Jehovah's witnesses bring even more darkness, but a darkness that pretends to be light.

Today at the English School, a guy came and after finding out that I was Brazilian, told us that he would bring a Brazilian friend. To our surprise, he returned a few hours later, with the Brazilian guy (that only was born in Brazil, he didn't even speak Portuguese well).

I was mad because he arrived and was acting like it was His room, he sat down and was looking into our stuff (he even grabbed a paper of mine and started reading - and I hate it!). Anyways, it's so hard to love people that insist on the wrong things. In fact, during all the time they were there, I just wanted him and his laugh (that seemed mocking us) to leave us alone. Good thing that I have a husband that doesn't let this stop him and was telling them how Jesus loves them and how Jesus is God. He even tried to reply, but in the end, Jesse told me that they accomplished nothing on this visit.

What really drives me crazy in this whole thing is that their doctrine is very similar to the real Christianity. In fact, most people don't even know that the differences are absurd (like, they believe that Jesus is not God, or that Jesus is Satan's brother; and the reason why they knock from door to door: they believe that the more things they do (works), bigger is the chance of being noticed by Jehovah and then they become a select group, blablabla...)

Besides not giving the honor, the glory and the position worthy of Jesus, they leave the grace of God out of this whole thing! How can someone say that they are Christians but ignore the fact that we are saved ONLY by the wonderful grace of God?

Anyways, I was mad today, not only because of the visit, but to remember that they are everywhere here in Japan, taking Jesus' precious sheep away from him and seriously, hurting the 'image' of Jesus here in Japan. But then I remembered that the wonderful grace of God is also available for them, they can also receive this wonderful gift and be saved, by Jesus' sacrifice and by the Father's grace.

Pray for the Jehovah's witnesses and for all who think they are in the light, but are in the darkness. Pray that they will find the real light of Jesus.

Today I want to recommend a place for everyone who is planning to visit Uruguay's capital, Montevideo. My favorite place to eat during the whole trip wasn't the famous parrilla houses, neither the chivitos restaurants, but a café beyond delicious: Amaretto Bakery Café.

The restaurants in Uruguay are kinda expensive and this was one of the cheapest restaurant from the whole trip, with good quality and flavorful food. The menu had lots of options, including burgers, salads, soups and risottos served on a bread bowl, sandwichs and pastas. Everything very fresh and healthy.

| Clockwise: pasta with shrimp, risotto, spinach soup, hamburguer with a delicious baked potato. These were only some of the delicious foods we had at Amaretto.

Each dish costs about 10 dollars and it was very well served. Besides the meals, the café also had a big option for deserts (unfortunately, I was so full I didn't have room to try the deserts. Maybe the next time ;)

Amaretto Bakery Café can be found in many different addresses in the Uruguayan capital.

Redeeming Love (Amor de Redenção) by Francine Rivers

Today I came here to recommend another book! The story is wonderful, but the book also exposes the 'backstage' of a subject that I am very interested in: prostitution. The name of the book is Redeeming Love, written by Francine Rivers.

The problem is that I can't tell the story, otherwise I might spoil it for whoever decides to read it. hahah

Basically, it is a 'rereading' of the book of Hosea, from the Bible. For those who do not know, it tells the story of a prophet who had to get married to a prostitute because God told him to do so. She wasn't faithful to him and ran away many times, but the prophet had to go through all of this to illustrate God's relationship with the Israeli people (that used to turn to other gods).

In this story, God tells Michael to marry the prostitute Angel. They get married, but Michael needs to have lots of love and patience to breakthrough hardships, walls and thoughts she has about herself. As I spoke before, the prostitution theme makes me very interested and all this matter of prostitution/pimp/slavery are exposed on the book. It's incredible to see the dependance that the prostitutes have over the pimps, even though they usually hate them. It's incredible to see the spiritual warfare that goes inside those women's minds that are usually the victims, but they think their value is exclusively on their bodies.

It's a love story, about God's love that forgives us, accepts us and remains faithful no matter how many times we have failed in the past, present or future.

As I said here, read something that will edify your life! Even if it's fiction. Francine River's books are great stories!
