Sabe, eu detesto escolher filme pra assistir com o Jesse. Se eu achava que os meus pais eram rigorosos (não podia ver Harry Potter, BBB e até depois de ver Crepúsculo, meu pai me proibiu de ver filme de vampiro! Eu já tinha mais de 18 anos! - enfim, hoje eu vejo como isso foi bom pra mim), o Jesse consegue ser muito mais! Nem todas as comédias românticas passam pelo filtro dele, por muitas vezes conter imoralidade sexual, inveja, mentira, traição e outros valores mundanos. Até hoje eu fico de cara, confesso.
You know what? I hate to choose a movie to watch with Jesse. If I thought my parents were strict (I couldn't watch Harry Potter, BBB and even after watching Twilight, my dad prohibited me to watch vampire movies! I was 18 years old! - anyways, now I see how this was good to me!), but Jesse can be even MORE strict! Not even all chick flicks go through his filter, because many of them have sexual immorality, envy, lies, betrayal, cheating and other worldly values. I get mad, I confess.

Mas eu vim aqui para falar de literatura. Os livros são capazes de instigar a nossa imaginação e nos levar a lugares nunca antes conhecidos. Mas dependendo do livro, eles também podem contaminar a nossa mente com coisas pecaminosas debaixo da mentira "não faz mal, é só um livro". Eu acredito que nós cristãos precisamos fugir de todo o mal e isso inclui também o nosso tempo de lazer.
But I came here to talk about literature. The books are capable of instigating our imaginations and take us to places that we've never imagined. But depending on the book, they can also contaminate our minds with sinful things under the lie "it's not bad, it's just a book'. I believe that we Christians should flee from all evil and that also includes our free time.

Fuja dos desejos malignos da juventude e siga a justiça, a fé, o amor e a paz, com aqueles que, de coração puro, invocam o Senhor. (2 Timóteo 2:22) 

So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. {1 Timothy 2:22}

Afastem-se de toda forma de mal. (1 Tessalonicenses 5:22)

Abstain from every form of evil. {1 Thessalonians 5:22}

Se você quer ler algo, por que não ler algo que vai ser bom pra você e alimentar o seu Espírito? Existem diversos autores excelentes que eu recomendo.

If you want to read something, why not reading something that will be good for you and feed your Spirit? There are lots of excellent authors that I recommend.

- C. S. Lewis: Crônicas de Nárnia (clássico, né)
- Chronicles of Narnia (a classic!)

- Ted Dekker: The Circle Trilogy - Black, Red, White, Green - Eu só li os dois primeiros livros, Black e Red, mas são bons DEMAIS e tem uma simbologia bem legal com o sacrifício de Jesus.
I only read the two first books, Black and Red, but they are REALLY good and have a really nice symbology about Jesus' sacrifice.

- Jackie Macgirvin: The Designer bag at the garbage dump - já falei sobre esse livro no post anterior.
I already spoke about this book on the previous post.

- Francine Rivers: ela é brilhante! Os livros dela são envolventes, retratam situações cotidianas, mas acho que é mais pra meninas. Já li a Mark of Lion Series que é uma trilogia que se passa nos tempos da bíblia (inclusive os apóstolos Paulo e João participam da história) e também The Atonement Child, que é uma história sobre aborto.
She is brilliant! Her books involve us, show daily situations, but I think it's mostly stories for girls. I read the Mark of Lion Series that is a trilogy that happens during the Bible times (the apostles Paul and John are part of the story!) and also The Atonement Child, that is a great story about abortion.

- Kim & Krickitt Carpenter - The Vow - essa história virou um filme, em português Para Sempre, mas só de ler a resenha, já deu pra ver que distorceram a história... É uma história de amor linda, que mostra tanto o amor de Jesus.
This story became a movie, but after reading the preview, I could see that they distorted the story... it's a beautiful love story, that shows a lot of Jesus' love.

- Robin Jones Gunn - Série Cris - Esses livros eu li durante a minha adolescência, mas eu não poderia deixar de mencionar, porque de verdade, essa série mudou a minha vida e me fez ver várias coisas e aprender vários valores cristãos. Acho que toda menininha sonhadora devia ler. E sim, no final das contas eu encontrei o meu Ted.
Christie Miller Series - I read this books during my teenage years, but I couldn't leave it behind, because seriously, these series changed my life and helped me to see lots of things and learn lots of Christian morals. I think every dreamy girls should read them. And yes, after all, I met my Ted.

- Paul Young - A cabana - Outro livro clássico com uma história linda, eu adoro a parte em que o Espírito Santo está plantando um jardim :)
- The Shack- another classic book with a beautiful story, I love the part that the Holy Spirit is planting a garden. :)

Existem outros livros cristãos que eu gosto, mas não consegui lembrar de todos, mas a questão é: existe literatura cristã de qualidade, que nos ensina valores bíblicos e que nos inspiram a buscar mais de Jesus. :) Agora depende de nós escolher ler o livro que todo mundo está lendo ou escolher um livro que deixa o Espírito Santo feliz em ler conosco.
There are other Christian books that I like, but I couldn't remember all of them, but the thing is: there is quality Christian literature, that teaches us biblical morals and inspires us to seek more after Jesus :) Now, it's our choice between the books that everybody is reading or choosing a book that makes the Holy Spirit happy to read with us.
