A história do I. | I.'s Story

Logo que nos mudamos para o nosso apê, fomos fazer o "saisetsu", que é uma tradição japonesa bem legal, principalmente para criar novos relacionamentos. Quando alguém se muda para algum lugar, é comum (e educado) que se apresente a todos os vizinhos e leve um presentinho.
As soon as we moved to our apartment, we did the "saisetsu", that is a very nice Japanese tradition, especially if you want to create new relationships. When someone moves to a new home, it's common (and polite) to go introduce yourself to your neighbors and take a little gift.

Enfim, eu e o Jesse também fizemos isso e acabamos conhecendo o nosso vizinho, o I. Ele foi diferente de todos os outros vizinhos, porque ele nos convidou para entrar na casa dele, saiu pra comprar comida e não queria que a gente fosse embora. O Jesse, é claro, não perdeu tempo e falou de Jesus para ele. Convidamos o I. para ir no estudo bíblico e desde então, ele tem ido praticamente toda semana.
Me and Jesse did that and that's how we met our neighbor I. He was different than all other neighbors, because he invited us to his home, went out to buy food and didn't want us to leave. Of course, Jesse didn't lose any time and told him about Jesus. We invited I to go to our Bible study and since them, he's been coming pretty much every week.

De repente, a gente descobriu que ele havia recebido Jesus no coração. (Aquela velha história, de que a gente planta a semente, mas nunca sabe o que tá acontecendo lá dentro, né!)
All of the sudden, we found out that he had already received Jesus into his heart. (That old story, we sow the seed but we never know what's happening inside)

Então, ele resolveu comprar uma casa pra ser utilizada pela igreja, sem nem pagar aluguel! E agora ele fala como quer saber mais da Bíblia e andava até curioso nessa coisa de 'ser missionário' e viver dependente de Deus. Ele tem mostrado o quanto dá valor as coisas reais, ao amor, aos relacionamentos, e não ao dinheiro, trabalho, etc. Inclusive, ele falou que um dia quer comprar uma casa bem grande, pra todos da igreja morarem juntos, como 'uma grande família'.
So he decided to buy a house to be used by the church, without charging rent! And know he speaks on how he wants to know more about the Bible and he was even curious about this 'missionary thing' and being dependent on God. He has been showing how much he values the real things, the love, the relationships, and not the money, the work, etc. Also, he said that someday he wants to buy a bigger house, so that everyone in the church can live together, like a 'big family'.

A gente conheceu ele numa situação tão corriqueira e nós ficamos surpresos e maravilhados com o fruto que ele tem dado. Sabemos que o Senhor vai usar o I. para fazer grandes coisas para ele!

e WOW, Deus não nos cansa de surpreender aqui no Japão! No Japão!!!!
We met him in such an ordinary situation and we were surprised and in awe of the fruit he's been giving us. We know that the Lord will use I. to do great things for Him. Wow. God doesn't stop surprising us here in Japan! In Japan!!
